Arthur A. Abelow, MD

Dr. Abelow received his BA from Yeshiva University and his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his Residency and Internship in Internal Medicine at Jacobi Hospital and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Abelow is affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center - Weiler Division and has a teaching appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

 

 

 

 

 

James C. DiLorenzo, MD

Dr. DiLorenzo is Chief Executive Officer of New York Associates in Gastroenterology, LLP and is President and Co-Medical Director of the New York GI Center. He received his BS in Biology from Georgetown University in 1983 and MD from Cornell University Medical College in 1987, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. 

Dr. DiLorenzo completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital, and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Cornell ~ New York Hospital. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is affiliated with Lawrence Hospital Center and Montefiore Medical Center’s Einstein Hospital. His interests include endoscopic removal of large polyps and Biliary Endoscopy. 

 

Carol A. Grant, MD

Carol A. Grant comes to New York Associates in Gastroenterology after working as an Attending Gastroenterologist and Division Chief at the NY Medical College-Metropolitan Hospital Center. When she moved to the Bronx, Dr. Grant became an Assistant Professor of Medicine the Weiler Division of Montefiore Medical Center where she took care of patients and taught gastroenterology to doctors in training. 

Dr. Grant was born and raised in Jamaica, WI where she attended York Castle High School in St. Ann.  When she came to US, she received her BS degree in Biology from City College of NY and MD degree from UMNDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1993.   Dr. Grant completed her internship and residency at the Jacobi Hospital Center and Gastroenterology fellowship at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. 

Dr. Grant served for four years as the Co-Medical Director of NYGI Endoscopy Center where she focused on expanding colon cancer screening to the uninsured.  Dr. Grant is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  She is committed to providing outstanding patient care with a personal touch.

 

Nejat Kiyici, MD

Dr.Kiyici is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College. He received his medical degree from Istanbul  University, Turkey  in 1989.He completed his residency , internship and fellowship in Gastroenterology  at New York Medical College affiliated hospital in the Bronx. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology.

 He has been chief of Endoscopy at Montefiore Medical Center Wakefield Division since 2002 where he enjoys teaching his fellows. He is also president of Turkish American Medical Association since 2012. He is a member of AGA, ACG and ASGE. Dr. Kiyici enjoys outdoor activities and swimming in his free time.

 

Hatef Massoumi, MD

Dr. Massoumi is a board certified Gastroenterologist and Transplant Hepatologist. He received his MD from the Iran University of Medical Sciences in 1994. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in 2001. His fellowship in Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition was at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center. Dr. Massoumi completed an Advanced Fellowship in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York in 2007. Dr. Massoumi is an attending physician at Montefiore Medical Center and he is a member of Montefiore-Einstein Transplant Group.

 Dr. Massoumi’s training and experience in hepatology and liver transplantation allow him to manage a wide range of liver diseases including hepatitis C, hepatitis B, autoimmune hepatitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis and liver cancer. Patients with end stage liver disease can be fully evaluated for liver transplantation in his practice. Dr. Massoumi performs endoscopy and colonoscopy for a number of indications including screening for esophageal, stomach and colon cancer, evaluation of GI tract for conditions such as anemia, abdominal pain, diarrhea and malabsorption. 
 

 

Robert L. Rosenzweig, MD

After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania,  Dr. Rosenzweig received his medical degree in 1991 from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency, followed by chief residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. This was followed by fellowship in Gastroenterology at Montefiore Medical Center, finished in 1997.

Dr. Rosenzweig is an attending physician at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. He participates in teaching the gastroenterology fellows as an active voluntary attending at the Einstein campus of the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.

Dr. Rosenzweig has maintained his board certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

His specific  areas of expertise  include management of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis, with experience in all of latest advances in medications.   Additional areas of interest include the diet and lifestyle changes   to assist in the management of all gastrointestinal disorders

 

Mark I. Rubin, MD

Dr. Rubin is aa Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He graduated with a BA from SUNY Stony Brook and received his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and is a member of the AGA, ALD and NYSMS. Dr. Rubin is affiliated with Einstein Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center and the New York Westchester Square Medical Center. 

 

 

 

 

Howard I. Sherman, MD

Dr. Howard I. Sherman graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his post graduate training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Emory University in Atlanta,  Georgia.   He is on staff at the Weiler Division of Montefiore Medical Center and holds the title of Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  He is a board certified gastroenterologist. 

Dr. Sherman has been named to Castle Connolly’s list of best doctors in the New York region and is also recognized in the best doctors listing in U.S. News and World Report.  His name has appeared in New York Magazine’s list of best gastroenterologists in New York.    He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and a member of the American Association for the study of Liver Diseases.
 

 

 

Peter K. Slotwiner-Nie, MD

Dr. Slotwiner-Nie received his MD from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Montefiore Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and is affiliated with Einstein Weiler Hospital, Montefiore Hospital and Lawrence Hospital Center. Dr. Slotwiner-Nie is also Co-Medical Director of the New York GI Center, Associate Director of Medicine at Lawrence Hospital and a Member at Large of the Lawrence Hospital Medical Board. 
 

 

 

 

 

Scott Suchin, MD

Dr. Suchin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brandeis University with a BA in English, American Literature, and Economics. He attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he received his MD and completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. He went on to complete his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Suchin is board certified in Gastroenterology. He is a voluntary Gastroenterology Attending at Montefiore Medical Center where he supervises and teaches GI Fellows.

Dr. Suchin offers his patients an informed, personalized, and compassionate style of care. His primary objective is your wellbeing.  In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his teenage daughters, reading and writing, working out at the gym, and following sports, especially his long-suffering NY Mets.
 

 

 

Francis R. Weiner, MD

Dr. Weiner is an Associate Professor Of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as well as a member of the Liver Research Center at the AECOM. He received his MD from Mt Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington Vermont and his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Liver Disease at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has also been involved in the study of the development of cirrhosis at the Liver Research Center. Dr. Weiner is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is member of the AASLD, AGA, ACGE and a Fellow of the ACG. While seeing patients with a full range of gastrointestinal problems, he has a particular interest in liver disease and in particular, chronic viral hepatitis. He has been part of studies that have tested new therapies for Chronic Hepatitis C as well as the mechanisms responsible for side effects associated with therapy for hepatitis C.  He is both well acquainted and utilizes the new therapies for hepatitis C and B.  He is affiliated with the Montefiore Medical Center and Lawrence Hospital Center.
